July 1, 2024 – Around 6:10 PM, the much-anticipated Manifesto Day began at the University of Ilorin. The event, initially scheduled to start at 3 PM, faced a significant delay due to logistics and welfare issues.
Despite the delay, the atmosphere was electric as students from various faculties gathered in support of their candidates. The Faculty of Arts and Agriculture led the charge followed by others. The air was filled with chants, music, dancing, and the sight of faculty lanyards flying high. The Dean of Student Affairs was also present, adding to the event’s significance.
The following aspirants contest in the SU 2024 general elections, with the announcement proceeding in the order listed below:

However, it was observed that the event was somewhat disorganised and chaotic, as supporters from the Faculty of Education were seen engaging in verbal conflict with others. A significant commotion arose when the MC, a member of ISEC (Independent Student Electoral Commission), declared a candidate known as Ronnyx disqualified because of the ruckus caused by her supporters.
Despite the challenges, the Manifesto Day provided a platform for candidates to present their visions and rally support, showcasing the vibrant democratic spirit within the university community. Each candidate now faces the critical task of solidifying their support base and convincing undecided voters. With the election stakes high, who will emerge victorious?
