The Senate President, Azeez Abdulhakeem (Upsylee), disclosed at the 4th Ordinary Sitting of the Student Union (SU) Senate Council, that the transport workers and the student union have signed a legal agreement to revert to the old transport fare of ₦250, down from ₦300, if fuel sold for ₦700 or less. He stated that a meeting would be summoned next Monday to ensure the enforcement of this agreement.

During the Senate Council’s plenary session on Saturday, June 8, various committees submitted their reports. Senator Hamdalah, representing Trunil Hostel, revealed that a group monitored by the Student’s Affairs has been established and representatives from different hostels including private ones, are encouraged to voice their complaints to expedite actions from the management.
Senator Ella from the College of Health Sciences Hostel highlighted the challenges of reaching out to some stores that have refused to review the prices of their goods. This report follows the formation of the Price Control Committee (COHS) during the 2nd Ordinary Sitting of the Senate Council to address the price complaints by students.
President Upsylee noted that the university management is abreast of pressing matters such as the dirty environment, lack of WiFi facilities, condition of classrooms, maintenance of the sporting facilities, and water supply to toilets, among other issues confronting students. He emphasised that other problems will be brought to the knowledge of the appropriate authorities to gear action.
Ten bills from various lawmakers were presented, some of which were rejected due to being categorised as “mode of operations, suggestions and policies,” rather than laws. Others were recommended for scrutiny.
