The Unilorin National Association of History and International Studies Students, NAHISS, in a statement released on Wednesday, has challenged UISAPC’s accusation of Senator David Oyekola of financial misappropriation.
The statement, signed by the NAHISS President, Akinwale Iyanuoluwa, said the association believes that the commission did not follow the appropriate procedures in conducting an investigation and publicizing the case.
“We want to reiterate that upon conduction of our investigations, there has been no evidence of financial misappropriation or diversion by the senator. We urge the UISAPC to retract their allegations and issue an apology to Mr. Oyekola “Apostle” and in furtherance, the student body of the Department of History and International Studies,” said the statement, referencing a press release by the UISAPC that accused the senator of misappropriating public funds.
Additionally, NAHISS called for the UISAPC to follow proper channels and procedures in the future when investigating allegations of misconduct to avoid tarnishing the reputation of students and staff.
