The students of the Faculty of Communication and Information Science went to the poll today to elect new students representative that will paddle the affairs of students at the faculty for the next 12 months.
The election was observed to be free, fair and credible as all but the office of Sport Secretary were contested unopposed. With the constitutional requirement of one-third of the total vote cast, Oladipupo Habeeb Oladimeji polled 374 votes to emerged as the Faculty President while Afolashade Ajibola Sophie became the Vice President with a total of 404 votes.
Also Fati Adebayo Isreal, Usman Abdulazeez Onimisi, Alarape Rejoice Mayowa, Ilesanmi Opeyemi Tumilare, Lateef Sodiq Olamilekan and Jubril Ewela Evangel, now qualified to assume the office(s) of the General secretary, Assistant general secretary, Welfare Secretary, Financial Secretary, Public relations officer and Social Director respectively.
The office of the Sport Secretary is the only position that was not unopposed, and was vied for by three aspirants. Oluyide Philip Damilola emerged as the next Sport Secretary after polling 228 votes, against two other aspirants, Adeniran Stephen Oluseyi who had 164 votes and Adigun Kehinde Boluwatife who had 105 votes.
Speaking with UCJ, the Vice President-elect couldn’t conceal her happiness. She said, “I would like to thank God and everyone who has been of support through the entire process and I hope to make them proud and to deliver and achieve everything I set out to.”
In the same vein, the Social Director-elect said “I am grateful to the students of the faculty for allowing me to serve as social director and I hope to meet their expectations.”
